Polyethylene pipes in Ukraine – dimensions, diameter, how to choose and what the characteristics mean

For more than a dozen years in the world, as well as in Ukraine, polyethylene pipes have been increasingly covering water supply areas to replace obsolete ones. In addition to global communication systems, plastic polyethylene pipes in Ukraine are also available to an ordinary citizen in a country house, house, apartment. If you are just now faced with the need to purchase plastic pipes in Kharkov, Kyiv, Poltava or any other corner of our country, then HDPE pipes from the manufacturing company Polymir are the right option. We offer affordable retail prices and special discounts for wholesalers. Warehouses of our company are located in several cities of Ukraine, we also deliver pipes throughout Ukraine and offer favorable terms of cooperation to those who wish to sell our pipes in any locality of the country.

Where are polyethylene pipes used and what are the requirements for them?

Like any production, plastic pipes made of polyethylene during the manufacturing process must adhere to the regulations established by GOST, which describes the requirements for the quality of polyethylene pipes produced in Ukraine, their parameters, sizes, diameters. Quality certificates of the manufacturer Polymir are available in the Documentation section on the company’s website, which can be found by every interested buyer.

According to the established GOSTs, all polyethylene pipes must comply with the following general requirements: pipe walls (both internal and external) made of polyethylene, intended for water supply, sewer systems, must not contain cracks, produced without foreign additives, pipes must be smooth and without air bubbles on the surface.

Types of polyethylene for pipe production

To date, the plastic range of pipes on the international market has been made from three grades of polyethylene:

  1. PE 63 is the very first grade of polyethylene in the history of the development of plastic pipes, but nowadays it is practically not used due to its short-term, albeit quite high, strength. This is due to the linear homopolymer from which polyethylene for PE-63 pipes is made. Its MRS (Polyethylene Durability) is 6.3 MP. which means that pipes of this marking are strong enough for a short period of time, i.e. during long-term operation, the strength properties of PE-63 pipes decrease and cracking and destruction occur. Therefore, manufacturers of polyethylene pipes remove it from their production
  2. PE 80 – plastic pipes marked PE-80 are widely used for the construction of small plumbing systems with a diameter of no more than 90 mm, and withstand significant internal pressure of the liquids transported through them. PND PE-80 pipes are suitable for water supply in the country house, houses, apartments, irrigation
  3. PE 100 – plastic pipes marked PE-100 are used for the construction of cold water supply mains, used for the construction of structures that require pipes of large diameters, storm sewers, collectors, drainage systems, etc.< /div>
Polyethylene pipes in Ukraine from Polymir are produced mainly in black and blue. Different colors of pipes are used to visually distinguish plastic pipes from each other according to the intended use. Black HDPE pipes are additionally marked with colored longitudinal thin stripes: pipes with three blue stripes – for plumbing systems, with yellow ones – for a gas pipeline.

Polyethylene producers produce high and low pressure polyethylene, which, in fact, is reflected later in the form of pipes produced: high pressure polyethylene pipes and low pressure polyethylene pipes.

High-density polyethylene pipes for pressure systems are less durable and are not used to carry liquids under pressure. But they are still produced, compensating for the unacceptable strength of polyethylene with a greater wall thickness and reinforcement with a nylon thread.

LPPE pipes have a high density but are more brittle, especially when installed with bends. HDPE pipes are able to withstand significant pressure, due to this property they are used for laying pipelines that conduct liquids or gases, as well as in the construction of pressure sewers.

It should be noted that pipes made of different types of polyethylene are not recommended to be welded together, as the connection of the pipes will turn out to be fragile. If it is necessary to connect polyethylene pipes of different pressures to each other, it is necessary to use the intermediate fittings intended for this.

Polyethylene pipes in Ukraine from Polymir are manufactured in different diameters from 16 to 110 mm and wall thicknesses from 1.6 to 8.1 mm. You can get acquainted with the price list of our products in the Products section.

The advantages of plastic pipes are their lightness, especially for large diameter pipes during transportation and installation, low cost compared to other materials, durability, resistance to low and high temperatures, environmentally friendly for the planet and many others. Pipes made of polyethylene every year more and more displace pipes made of metal and cast iron from the market. If you decide to buy polyethylene pipes in Ukraine, Polymir is always at your service!
